PIKES PEAK RANGE RIDERS ANNOUNCE EVENTS LEADING TO THE PIKES PEAK OR BUST RODEO DAYS

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – April 25, 2012 – The Pikes Peak Range Riders announce the following events:

52nd Colorado Springs Street Breakfast – Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 5:30-9:00AM at the corner of Pikes Peak and Tejon in downtown Colorado Springs.  The breakfast is prepared and served by Fort Carson volunteers.  The $5.00 breakfast includes eggs, pancakes, milk, coffee and juice and is free to children under five.  Tokens for the breakfast may be purchased from Sertoma Club members in the Pikes Peak region, the morning of the breakfast or at Springs Spree.  All proceeds from the breakfast go to benefit military charities.

64th Pikes Peak Range Ride – Wednesday, June 20th at 8:00AM, 145 range riders ride off on horseback for a 5-day trip. The ride is in support of the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo and to honor and perpetuate the western heritage of our region.  For more information on the Pikes Peak Range Riders, go to www.pikespeakrangeriders.net. This year the Pikes Peak Range Riders will ride down Colorado Avenue, down Pikes Peak to Cascade, south on Cascade to Colorado Avenue, west on Colorado to Limit Street, south on Limit to Highway 24, then it turns into 8th Street, south on 8th to Rio Grande Street, west on Rio Grande to Norris Penrose Center.

Longhorn Cattle Drive – Friday, June 29th at high noon on Tejon Street in downtown Colorado Springs.

Ride for the Brand Championship Ranch Rodeo and chuck Wagon Cook-Off – Saturday, June 30th at the Norris Penrose Event Center at 1045 West Rio Grande Street. Gates open at 4:00PM, Chuck Wagon Cook-Off starts at 4:30PM, and the Ranch Rodeo begins at 6:30PM.

Special Rodeo and Kiddie Dress-Up Review – Saturday, July 7th at the ProRodeo Hall of Fame. A family fun day for everyone starts with the Walk, Trot Canter 5K at 7:00AM; registration for the 64th Kiddie Dress-Up Review and the Special Rodeo begins at 8:30AM; and the Special Rodeo and Kiddie Dress-Up Review start at 9:00AM. 72nd Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Parade – Tuesday. July 10th at 6:30PM in downtown Colorado Springs, starting at St. Vrain and ending at Vermijo. Entries in the parade include horses, floats, bands and more. Money raised by parade entries and parade program goes toward scholarships for families of fallen or wounded soldiers.

72nd Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo – Wednesday, July 11th through Saturday, July 14th at the Norris Penrose Event Center at 1045 West Rio Grande Street. The rodeo starts at 7:15PM, Wednesday through Saturday nights and at 12:45PM for the Saturday matinee. Come early and enjoy mutton bustin’, gold panning, trick rope demos, pony rides, performing pigs, mechanical bull rides, and much more. Rodeo proceeds benefit our armed forces and their families.

Chili Cook-Off – Saturday, July 14th from 4:30-7:15PM at the Norris Penrose Event Center at 1045 West Rio Grande Street. Teams from our locally-based military units compete to present the award-winning meal.
